J.T. Creedon Receives Endorsement of Outgoing Assemblyman Joe HoganLAS VEGAS, Nev. – Community organizer and education advocate J.T. Creedon declared today his candidacy for Nevada Assembly District 10.
The seat’s predecessor, five-term Assemblyman Joe Hogan, announced his retirement and endorsed Creedon. “I am humbled to receive Assemblyman Hogan’s support,” Creedon says. “He has been a devoted servant to his constituents, a longtime fighter for the underrepresented and is the person most intimately acquainted with the needs and values of the people in District 10.” Creedon says after years of feeling the effects of the economic downturn and witnessing its impact on his community, he decided to take action and run for Assemblyman. He believes his history of finding common ground between people of different views and uniting them for the common good will help him pass common sense legislation in the Assembly. “Every year, it gets harder and harder for working families to get by,” Creedon says. “Meanwhile, the same special interests and tired rhetoric reign in Carson City. It’s time that we elect a new generation of representatives in the Nevada Legislature.” Calling Nevada a state of opportunity, Creedon says much of its potential has gone untapped or squandered. A change in legislative priorities and a bold young leader with the drive, passion and ideas to get there, he says, will ensure that the legislature is responsively serving the community’s needs. Creedon became a student leader while at the College of Southern Nevada, where he led students in protesting budget cuts to higher education funding and helped organize the largest protest Carson City has ever seen during the 2011 legislative session. He has also ran a non-profit organization dedicated to engaging troubled youth in community service and worked for one of Nevada’s top lobbying firms, advocating for legislation to ensure safer and stronger schools, expand public access to health care and end Nevada’s dependence on coal production.
