About J.T. Creedon
As the son of a teacher and a small business owner, I know firsthand what everyday Nevadans are going through because I’ve lived the same struggles.
I know what it’s like growing up in a working-class, spending your teenage years working minimum wage jobs to help support your family. I know what it’s like to see your parents lose their home and their business while trying to pay unexpected medical bills. And I know what it’s like to find yourself suddenly out of work, in debt and unsure where your next paycheck is coming from. When times got hard, I did what many other young Americans have done: I went back to school to learn different skills and build a new career. It was at CSN and UNLV that I discovered my sense of community and developed into a grassroots leader. After being elected student body president of my district’s college, I fought to implement sustainability programs that save students and taxpayers thousands upon thousands of dollars each year. I also organized students to protest devastating budget cuts to higher education, registered thousands of voters who needed their voice heard and ran a non-profit group dedicated to engaging troubled youth in community service. In just a few years, I became a known advocate for a host of issues, including improving public health, passing immigration reform and defending education funding. Recognized for my passion and ability to bring disagreeing parties together, I was recruited as a legislative aide by a prominent Nevada firm during the 2013 session. At the Legislature, I helped lobby for and pass numerous bills, including measures to ensure safer and stronger schools, expand public access to health care and end Nevada’s dependence on coal production in favor of clean, renewable energy. For the last several years, through five legislative sessions, I have worked tirelessly to better our community. My experiences inside and outside of the legislature have taught me what it takes to be an effective representative for Nevadans, and given me many ideas about how we can help our state reach its greatest, but untapped, potential. Now, I want to take my experiences and leadership to Carson City and be an advocate for you. |
